Product Info
No previous experience is necessary as all the basics are covered as we work on a small lap quilt to get you started on this absorbing (and addictive!!) hobby.
This course is aimed at complete beginners, even if you haven't used a machine or threaded a needle before. It would also be suitable for those with some experience who want to go back to basics. There are plenty of tips on using your machine, hand sewing, cutting, how to get those points accurate, and quilting and finishing your quilt during the four lessons. The classes are small, kept to a maximum of four participants so that everyone receives attention.
Fridays 13th, 20th, 27th June & 4th July 2025 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- Week 1 - we will cover cutting, pressing and accurate piecing as we construct the first two blocks, plus there will be lots of tips on how to get the best results from your sewing machine - please note that you can also construct this quilt completely by hand if you so wish.
- Week 2 - we will be moving on to half square triangles and Flying Geese, also English Paper Piecing and appliqué by hand.
- Week 3 - squaring blocks, attaching sashing and borders. We will discuss appropriate waddings, threads for quilting and look at 'the quilt sandwich'.
- Week 4 - completing the quilt. All things quilting and finishing, including the binding.
£111 for the course (fabric not included).
All classes must be paid for in full at the time of booking. You can book in person at our shop or we can take a card payment by phone, telephone 01754 820139. Please get in touch if you would like any further details.
